Hello again and welcome to 2019
Hope everyone had a good break over the Christmas and New Year period. I appreciate that this year the boys have their GCSE’s (if U16) and so there is no Under16 league. However there is an U17 League, and these games don’t start until after the exams. This is effectively the same age group that reached the County Final a few years ago. And our U16’s reached the County Quarter Finals in 2018.
We have been drawn against West Herts, Leverstock Green, Hemel Hempstead and Bushey. In reality we are going to need to find a couple more players so I would ask all the boys to keep an eye open for any boys whose clubs don’t do U17’s, or new boys, or anyone who would be interested in playing for us. We will probably have to borrow some of the younger players as well.
In the meantime, of course all the boys are welcome to play on Saturdays or Sundays for the Rickmansworth teams. We have fixtures every week and the younger boys are always given every opportunity to take a full part in the games. Tahir, Raunak, Harvey, Bilal, Callum, Kinushan, Yash... the list is endless of boys that have already joined in. After a number of years in the 1st and 2nd teams I have chosen to drop down to Captain the 3rd XI this year, to encourage the younger players to take a stronger role in the teams.
To keep up the exercise and skills routine, we start indoor nets at Rickmansworth School from next Sunday (27th) This is from 1.15pm to 2.30pm. It’s the best local facility. At this age group the boys may well be sharing with some of the 3rd and 4th team players. Cost is £5 a session and I hope as many of the boys as possible will be able to make some of the sessions.
As always, any questions or comments, please email me
