Thumping win over local rivals

Kamber lost the toss again for the 100th time this season and of course Ricky were inserted by the opposition. A win for either side would consolidate 8th place and out of relegation so it was an important game to win. Kamber's instructions to Azeem and Sagar were clear - get us to a third of the way through the innings with a firm base and let the middle order do the rest. And they duly obliged with a handy partnership of over 50. The skipper then took it on himself to play the vital no3 role and this turned out to be his week.

With the inform Harvey joining him when Sagar departed for 51 (Azeem had made 28 valuable runs) the two of the set about putting Ricky into position A1. Plenty of 4's and some maximums were garnered and when Harvey was bowled for 46, the score was already just over 200 with 9 overs to go. Tahir was run out but this meant Mobeen and Kamber were together. What followed was the same carnage as befell many teams last year , with Mobeen and Kamber having free rein - and rain it did - mostly maximums over the ropes, trees and clubhouse roof. Mobeen hit 54, of which 50 were boundaries. Kamber (pictured) smashed 142 not out and the pair took the total to 348 and importantly only lost 4 wickets in the process.

If this was a boxing match, KLCC might have been persuaded to throw in the towel, but they stuck gamely to their task in the chase. Harvey and Aamir bowled spin instead of pace and even though the latter stages of the game were played with 10 men, as Abdul twisted his ankle, it was only a slogged 62 by tail-ender Hutchings that enabled Kings to get 8 batting points as they fell away to 219. Aamir and Abdul took 3 wickets each.

This was a welcome return to form by Rickmansworth as they finally have their Mojo back and it's up the table we can now look and not down.
