So here it is - the end of a great league season for the club and also the inaugural Rickmansworth CC orange cap competition.
The final week saw a number of players in with a shout of overhauling Callum, however his marathon 33 over 20 odd not out for the 3's secured him the title and the all important chunk of Buffalo willow!
Although there can only be one winner, there are some important observations that can be gleaned from the data:
Some really valiant efforts saw 11 players exceed their two season average by over 10 runs - this is a great effort and in theory highlights either improvements in overall scoring or indeed consistency over the season.
Of those who met the qualifying criteria for their respective teams, exactly 50% of players improved on their two season average which again hopefully shows how the club is progressing strongly.
Of those in the lower reaches, many were probably paying the price for highly successful recent seasons. This is perhaps the one big drawback of how the competition is currently set up. Now we have additional season of data it may make sense to update the rules for a 3 season average moving forward.

Anyhow, enough of the analysis. I hope everyone has enjoyed following the leader board over the course of the season - with any luck the competition will return bigger and better next year!
